COPYRIGHT MATTERS

Members are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with their professional rights and legal obligations in regard to selecting and using copyright-protected materials in an educational context. The law, as it affects educators, has changed significantly since 2005.

A recommended resource and starting point for members is the 3rd edition of Copyright Matters! which provides an overview of the key changes to basic Canadian copyright rules – especially the Fair Dealing provisions – that have occurred in the area of Canadian copyright law; however, neither this resource nor others listed below are intended as a substitute for legal advice.
